My Beautiful Tamarind Tree

 She gave me shelter.
She gave me food.
She protected me from the sun,
The rain and the wind.

I love her.
We have many memories together.
And I made a promise that I'll protect her,
The best I canfrom anyone or anything
that will bring her harm.

But she had grown big,
 She had covered the sky;
And in the dark of the night,
I could not anymore enjoy
The sight of the stars
That nourished my soul
And are gems to my eyes.

She blocked the much-needed sun-rays,
Which my weak body cannot live without.
She crowded my chosen open space;
She made it look so small;
bounded, limited, and narrow
When I want it wide.

So I killed her,
I cut her body,
I sliced it into pieces
And threw it to the fire.

O it hurts,
It really hurt so bad;
 And I had to think more than twice
before I was able to decide.
But reasons convinced me
 to not hear the whisper of my heart,
And if I want to live a life
I must take her life.

Note: One of the differences between living things and none living things is that the former grow while the latter remain as it is. This dissimilarity is visible in the difference between a plant and a rock. Furthermore, according to scriptures, living things have souls while none living things are pure matter. Death is but an absence of spirit while life is a symptom of its presence. In addition, ancient writing states that even animals, plants, and trees have souls. That is why I am guilty of killing, and I am bound to the law of karma even though I am a vegetarian.
